Umiam Lake
Umiam Lake, a mesmerizing man-made reservoir, is located at a distance of 15 kilometers north of Shillong which is the capital of the north-eastern Indian state of Meghalaya.

Elephant Falls

Definitely the most popular tourist site of Shillong, these falls are 12km from the city and can be easily reached by public transport. It is a collection of three smaller falls which eventually merge into one.

Currently the wettest place on earth, this place receives almost 12m of rain annually. The generosity of mother nature can be easily seen and experienced with the fresh air, blue skies waterfalls and lush greenery. 

Shillong Peak

At the height of 6449 ft and 1965 m above sea level, this is the highest point of Shillong. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city, the Himalayas, its waterfalls as well as of the Bangladesh plains. A telescope is available for tourists to get a bird's eye view. Trekking up to this semi-circular peak is highly recommended for the best views but it is often bounded by heavy fog.

Dawki Integrated Check Post or Dawki border crossing is on Dawki-Tamabil is one of the few road border crossings between India and Bangladesh in West Jaintia Hills district in the state of Meghalaya, India. You can find the beautiful Umgot river here separating India and Bangladesh and several water falls.

Wards Lake

 A pretty artificial lake surrounded by gardens is an ideal evening get away! Also known as the Polok Lake, it is usually flocked by couples, picnickers and locals.
Boating and fountain dancing are big activities of this place. The complex also has a cafeteria and a Botanical Garden. the lake is located beneath the Governor's recidence.

Lady Hydari Park

One of the most famous tourist spots of Shillong, the park is dedicated to the first lady of the province - Lady Hydari. This sprawling park encompasses a wide variety of flora along with a cute mini zoo housing 73 species of birds and over 100 reptiles.

The beautiful bed of roses is the highlight of the park. A special play area is a part of the park as well.

Sweet Falls

Sweet Falls, a very steep fall, is one of the most mesmerising waterfalls in the country. The beauty of the waterfall along with gargling sound of the water, bird chirps and rich flora are the highlights of this fall. This falls is situated near the region of Happy Valley.

David Scott Trail

The trek takes you across the beautiful terrain of East Khasi Hills and covers around 16 km. Originally this trekking trail was a bridle path established by David Scott, a British officer, in the early 1800s, and was used by people to travel from Assam to Bangladesh. The best known existing portion of this track is located between the villages of Mawphlang and Lad Mawphlang.

Mawsmai Cave

This is a lesser known place among tourists but is definitely worth it. These limestone caves have the distinction of being the only caves in Meghalaya that are lit enough to enable tourists to enjoy the natural formations in awe. Nohkalikai Falls

Nohkalikai Falls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Its height is 1115 feet. This one is located near Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth. Nohkalikai Falls are fed by the rainwater collected on the summit of a comparatively small plateau and decrease in power during the dry season in December - February. Below the falls there has formed a plunge pool with unusual green colored water.

Beadon Water Falls 

Beadon Falls is one of the two waterfalls flowing through a cluster of hills at an altitude of around 1,496 metre. The site is located amidst a dense forest, which is a habitat to wild animals like leopard, langurs, wild cats, deer and bird species.Maintaining a good flow throughout the year, the waterfall runs down in disjoint cascades of almost 100 feet to crush rocks beneath. Tourists can witness crystal clear water of the falls flowing through.
